About Yumenoshima, Tokyo, Japan
Yumenoshima Park is a metropolitan park located on an artificial island in Koto Ward, Tokyo, Japan. The island, known as Yumenoshima ('Island of Dreams'), was created from landfill waste in Tokyo Bay and officially named in 1975. The park features amenities such as a gymnasium, stadium, baseball field, and a large greenhouse, constructed to compensate local residents for the area's historical use as a garbage disposal site. For a period after World War II, its beach was popularly called 'the Hawaii of Tokyo,' though the beach closed in 1950. Today, Yumenoshima Park serves as a recreational space and was an Olympic venue in 2020 for archery events.
