Ontario (Province-wide statutory holiday)

About Ontario (Province-wide statutory holiday)
Ontario recognizes nine statutory holidays under the Employment Standards Act (ESA), including New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Notably, Ontario is one of the few provinces where Boxing Day is a statutory provincial holiday. Some holidays, such as Civic Holiday, Easter Monday, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, are widely observed but are not statutory holidays under Ontario's ESA. Statutory holidays may affect retail hours, with many businesses required to close or operate with reduced hours. Employees are generally entitled to paid time off on statutory holidays, except where employment contracts or collective agreements specify otherwise.
