The Lobero Theatre is a historic performing arts venue located in Santa Barbara, California, and is the state's oldest continuously operating theater, originally opened in 1873. Founded by José Lobero, it has been an iconic cultural hub, hosting theater, music, film, and civic events for over a century. The current building was completed in 1924, designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style by architects George Washington Smith and Lutah Maria Riggs. Notable performers such as Clark Gable, Ingrid Bergman, Igor Stravinsky, and Dave Brubeck have graced its stage. Renowned for its elegant architecture, the Lobero Theatre was listed by Architectural Digest in 2023 as one of the world's eleven most beautiful theaters.
