Bob Hope Theater - Dallas, TX

The Bob Hope Theatre, located within the Owen Arts Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, offers a professional performance space with a proscenium stage, continental seating, and a hydraulic orchestra pit. This 392-seat venue was donated by the legendary comedian Bob Hope, whose involvement with SMU included funding the theater with gifts totaling over $800,000. Opened in 1968, it has hosted a variety of interdisciplinary productions spanning theatre, dance, and music, and is known for its ideal layout for grand-scale performances. The theater maintains a collaborative atmosphere, providing ample wing space for large ensemble and multi-department showcases. Its rich history and versatile design have made it a cornerstone of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts performance venues.
