About Colorado Railroad Museum - Golden, CO
Established in 1959, the Colorado Railroad Museum is a non-profit dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich railroad history of Colorado, especially its pioneering narrow-gauge mountain railroads. Set on 15 acres in Golden, Colorado, the museum features a vast collection of over 100 locomotives and cars, as well as exhibits showcasing historical photographs, paintings, and model trains. The main museum building is a replica of an 1880s railroad depot and includes a recreated telegrapher's office with a working telegraph sounder. Visitors can enjoy train rides, interactive family events, and notable special experiences like Day Out with Thomas™ and The Polar Express™ Train Ride. The museum is open daily and aims to be an accessible destination for audiences of all ages to learn about railroading in the Rocky Mountain region.
