The Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) is the oldest and largest public art museum in Southern Ontario, founded in 1914 and located in downtown Hamilton. Its impressive 7,000 square metre facility was originally designed by Trevor P. Garwood-Jones, and later renovated by Bruce Kuwabara, serving as a cultural landmark near King Street West. With a permanent collection of over 10,000 works, AGH features significant Canadian, international, and contemporary art, including pieces by Alex Colville, Emily Carr, and the Group of Seven. The gallery offers a range of exhibitions, events, and art sales, highlighting both established and emerging artists. AGH is recognized for its community engagement, accessibility, and dedication to Indigenous land acknowledgment and equity.
