About National Cambodian Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial
The National Cambodian Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial is located in Chicago, Illinois. It was established to preserve Cambodian culture and to educate visitors about the Cambodian genocide that occurred from 1975 to 1979. As the only museum of its kind in the United States, it focuses on genocide awareness, Cambodian ancient and modern history, and the refugee experience. The museum also highlights the Cambodian American community today and hosts events for reflection, remembrance, and hope. Collaborations with organizations such as the Cambodian Association of Illinois further its mission of remembrance and solidarity with the Cambodian community.
