About Regal Ballroom
The Avalon Regal Theater, formerly known as the Avalon Theater, is an iconic performance venue located in Chicago, Illinois. Renowned for its Moorish Revival design by architect John Eberson, it opened in 1927 and was renamed in 1987 as a tribute to the original Regal Theater in Bronzeville. The theater has hosted legendary performers including Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington. It boasts a grand, 2,500-seat auditorium and has been designated a Chicago Landmark. Recently, restoration efforts have been initiated to revitalize this historic cultural venue.
