The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is a landmark facility serving the downtown Dallas community as both a neighborhood library and a hub for research. This expansive library spans eight floors and offers visitors public art displays, hands-on activities, and sweeping city views. It houses one of the largest genealogy collections in the Southwest, in addition to rare treasures like an original copy of the 1776 Declaration of Independence and one of Shakespeare’s first folios. The library is a popular venue for large-scale events and provides miles of browsable books, magazines, CDs, and more. Conveniently located across from City Hall, it welcomes millions annually for learning and gathering opportunities.
