About The Bass
The Bass is Miami Beach's contemporary art museum, housed in a historic 1930s Art Deco building designed by Russell Pancoast. Founded in 1964 through the donation of John and Johanna Bass’s private collection, it was the first public exhibition space for art in South Florida. Today, The Bass focuses on exhibitions of international contemporary art, presenting both mid-career and established artists. The museum integrates disciplines such as design, fashion, and architecture into its programs and features the Creativity Center, which offers innovative workshops and community outreach. The venue is fully accessible, offers free admission to Miami Beach residents, and hosts regular public events and exhibitions.
