About Poe Cottage - Bronx, NY
The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage is a historic house museum in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. Built between 1810 and 1830, it served as the final home of famed writer Edgar Allan Poe from 1846 to 1849, where he lived with his ailing wife Virginia and mother-in-law Maria Clemm. The modest cottage features restored rooms with period furnishings, including several items believed to have belonged to the Poe family. Now located at the northern end of Poe Park, the house is designated as a New York City and State landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Bronx County Historical Society operates the museum, offering tours and exhibitions on Poe's life and works.
