Fort Hamilton Park

Fort Hamilton is a historic U.S. Army garrison located in Brooklyn, New York, at the base of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. It is the only active duty military installation in the New York City metropolitan area, surrounded by neighborhoods such as Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Bensonhurst. The original fort was constructed between 1825 and 1831 and played a vital role in defending New York Harbor. Today, Fort Hamilton houses the Harbor Defense Museum, which offers tours and exhibits showcasing the military history of the area. The grounds overlook the Verrazzano Bridge and accommodate a community club that serves both military personnel and the general public for dining and events.
